Frank Needs a Liver
Frank Richter, and his wife, Nicole, live in Maple Ridge, BC.
He is 62 years old, and he has end-stage liver disease.
For Frank’s liver problems, there is no cure, except a transplant. The GOOD news, is that a liver transplant doesn’t require an organ donor to die… liver donation only requires about a third of the donor’s liver… and then BOTH the living donor, and Frank, would “re-grow” full livers, from the segment. (Apparently in about three months.)
The challenge is, that the donor needs to be 19 to 55 years old… and either O Positive or O Negative blood type. I meet NEITHER of those criteria.
Frank is a web guy, a weaver, and has raised alpacas and honey bees… amongst MANY other things! (You can read more about Frank and his situation, at FrankNeedsALiver.com)
Frank’s journey is a tough one. His liver disease was not induced by lifestyle or anything else… just a lightning bolt that struck Frank out of the blue… and now, he and his wife are trying to find a solution that gives Frank a chance at a long and happy life!
As stated previously, I am not a viable donor for Frank… and for those of us who cannot help him directly, with an organ donation, we can help by spreading word of Frank’s plight.
Frank has a website, with all kinds of details, including how to get in touch with Transplant BC.
Frank’s website has a pretty straightforward URL: FrankNeedsALiver.com
If you come across this article… or a Social Media post… please take a second and share! It is *LITERALLY* a matter of life and death!
PS If you are wondering why I have put this on the BobSongs Brand Blog… Frank is a pretty savvy guy. On the Interwebs, Frank “OWNS” the whole “Frank Needs A Liver” brand. Hopefully, in the coming days, if we can create enough awareness, Frank can pay it forward, and share his expertise and journey, and support someone ELSE, who needs a liver!
PPS I don’t know Frank, or his wife. I saw a flyer that someone put up in our local Save On Foods, in Maple Ridge. Hopefully, once Frank finds his donor, has his transplant surgery, and everyone is recovered… we can meet up, when Frank has energy to put towards FUN life events, like meeting people, and socializing!
